  • Overview

    Group O has an immediate opening within its Corporate IT department for a Network Engineer.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, support and security of network device objects and network management devices throughout Group O’s enterprise WAN environment; monitoring network/telecom devices; ensuring an optimized and stable network infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    • Establishes the networking environment by designing component configurations; directing installation; defining, documenting and enforcing system standards
    • Optimize network performance by monitoring performance with various tools; troubleshooting and correcting network problems and outages; scheduling and performing upgrades
    • Ensure security of network systems by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access
    • Proactively update job knowledge by leveraging educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations; research and analyze trends in networking/security and recommend strategies for upgrades
    • Report on network operational metrics by gathering and analyzing relevant data
    • Work directly with network/telecom vendor support personnel on projects and trouble resolution; provide escalation services to internal support teams for network/telecom related technical issues

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in an IT discipline or equivalent work experience
    • Cisco CCNA certification (or equivalent) and 5 years experience working with Cisco hardware and Cisco operating systems
    • Demonstrates expertise in Cisco VPN/ASA, Network IDS/IPS, and Network Management Protocols (Syslog/SNMP)
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
    • Demonstrates expertise in wireless networking technologies
    • Demonstrates an expertise in using network analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark, Netflow)
    • Cisco ASA, Cisco routers & switching
    • IP addressing, sub-netting, natting, VLAN
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to work nights, weekends and as emergencies occur
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
    • Flexibility to cope with rapid change in priorities
    • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills and attention to detail

    Desired skills:

    • 5-10 years experience designing, implementing and maintaining LAN/WAN networks
    • Security certifications (SANS, CISSP, etc.)
    • ITIL Foundations Certification (or equivalent)
    • Familiarity with security standards dealing with hardening and best practices based on the ITIL foundation
    • Knowledge of PCI, SSAE16 and ISO standards
    • Vendor relationship management
