Overview

Group O is searching for a Sr. Operations Manager to join its growing team! The Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for the oversight and execution of day-to-day warehouse and logistics operations, driving operational excellence through effective leadership and team building, developing and executing operational goals/objectives, identifying problems, implementing solutions, measuring operational effectiveness and refining processes to ensure business unit profitability and exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a hands-on approach to leading forward and reverse logistics operations, including receiving, returns processing, triage and part inspection, inventory control/parts management, put away/reverse replenishment, forward picking, production scheduling, kitting operations, loading and shipping.
  • Facilitates the planning and coordination of new product launches; determines inventory storage/space needs, staffing levels, and schedules operational activities to ensure client requirements and ship dates are met.
  • Sets and meets daily output/production goals within set budgetary requirements.
  • Ensures adequate staffing, training, coaching and counseling for employees.
  • Evaluates and analyzes trends to ensure operational effectiveness. Evaluates, recommends and implements process improvement changes.
  • Leads management team reviews of current operational performance (key metrics & key initiatives) and business/operations outlook (future strategies & projects).
  • Demonstrates visible commitment to quality by supporting Quality Management initiatives and programs.
  • Ensures safe operation of the warehouse including meeting company standards for sanitation, maintenance, security and housekeeping.
  • Provides a high degree of leadership to direct reports and hourly associates through effective communication, issue resolution, education/training and empowerment.
  • Mentors, coaches and develops operational leaders and team members through positive engagement, promoting an environment of openness and trust.
  • Creating a culture of accountability focused on delivering results.
  • Develops leadership bench strength through succession planning.
  • Maintains and strengthens internal/external customer and supplier relationships.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Fosters a healthy and safe work environment, focusing on the well-being of all warehouse and facility associates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major in Business Management or Supply Chain Management (Work experience in lieu of education will be considered).
  • 7-10+ years of Warehouse/Distribution Center management experience in forward and/or reverse logistics operations; experience managing a multi-client facility is a plus.
  • Previous experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is required; experience with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system via EDI is desired.
  • Broad range of leadership skills required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, on-boarding, training and succession planning.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships, provide leadership, integrate diverse organizations and individuals toward profitability and client service objectives is critical.
